Testimonies
“The goals listed are things that I honestly feel will help me with both my college and my professional career. Even beyond that, I see can see the potential of these steps. They have provided me with a sense of structure and stability and I know that following these steps will bring me success and prepare me for the world better than my classmates who have not been affected by this great program.”
Sonia Fanou, University of Central Florida
“I thought the Route 66 presentation was great! It has motivated me to do what it takes to stand out and go above and beyond. Not only was it informative but fun and interesting.“
- Anne Dalton, Missouri State University
“I have been thinking for a while now, and I have cleared my head—to quote Mike Little, I was “asleep”. We all have those few steps that we must take to get to the better “selves” that we can be. For me, this was finding myself. A month ago I attended Route 66, a seminar about personal motivation; this added to my career awakening that was already in progress.”
Brian Pohuski, University of Alabama
“It was a very good presentation, and most of the items on the list are achievable. The presentation was informative and it was funny as well. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you!”
- Erica Riley, Cal State Fullerton
“Jullien,
I was one of the two students who approached you after your 1-2:15 presentation today. I would like to start by saying that I was greatly motivated by your presentation today. You truly do a great job at catching those peoples attention who do not feel like they have it all figured out and are open to what life has to offer aside from just money and status. I am a sophomore and am not currently in the Kelley School of Business. I have spent the entirety of my freshman year exploring both a biology route and a psychology route, only to end up this year exploring the business/Kelley route. And to tell you the truth, I’ve been just as lost my first day of freshman year as I am now when somebody asked me what I want to do. Now although I still do not know exactly what that answer is, I feel like for the first time I know what its not.
When you told the class to text three people and ask them what I was great at or could be great at and why, these were the responses I received:
“I think your really good at speaking to people. Or like public speaking. You always give a good answer and u always back it up with evidence.”
“Great at giving advice and because I’ve asked for it many times and its always helped out.”
“Selling things or motivating people because your passionate, great with people, and a fast learner.”
Today was honestly the most life opening day I have ever experienced and that was due to both your presentation and those three responses. I have always known that I want to pursue something that I love and am good at, but I do not know how to get that done because as all three of those responses said, I like to help, motivate, and interact with people. After seeing you present today, i felt as if I found my dream job, but have absolutely no idea how to achieve it. I would just like any advice you could provide on how to do what you do for a living.
Thank you so much again for doing what you do. I am sure I am one of hundreds of people that email you the same thing but I can only imagine how rewarding it is that it probably never gets old.”
- Daniel Hunt, Indiana University
“Professor Dayton,
I just wanted to thank you again for arranging for Jullien Gordon to be our guest speaker today. His entire presentation was extremely eye-opening and inspiring. His points of maintaining leadership positions in clubs/organizations and the fact that my generation is competing with the entire world when it comes to the job market really resonated with me. I especially liked when he said that, “Being a good student and having a degree no longer guarantees a good job after a college.” Jullien’s presentation today helped me fully realize the importance of differentiating myself as much as possible and the fact that I should be passionate about what I’m going to school for. I also liked the tortoise and hare example that he used and how he compared it to school and us students. I am currently a Sophomore and am taking all business courses; it has proven to be my most challenging semester. Jullien’s realistic, yet encouraging presentation reinforced my determination to succeed in the Kelley School of Business. I wish I would have taken this class last semester, because I would likely have worked even hard to excel in my classes. Again, thank you for arranging for Jullien to come speak to us today. It was truly a blessing.
Thank you,”
- Anne Marie Koerner, Indiana University
